The Fugees - The Score

(9)

One of my favorite hip hop albums. Long gone from the once shining spotlight in '96, The Fugees left us with this gospel of truth. There's plenty of soul on this and each track stands out. The lyrics are sharp and thoughtful, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef shine here. If the lyrics weren't good enough, the samples are insanely good. There's a good mix of live instrumentals and sampling of reggae, R&B, soul and funk. There's even a revamp of the classic No Woman, No Cry. This album has held up so well over the years.

One of the top selling hip hop albums of all time, highly recommended just for the Sly & Robbie remix alone.

Sounds Like
