Burial - Untrue

(9.5)

Burial's second album was probably the best album of 2007. For those unfamiliar with the UK producer, Untrue was released on Hyperdub records so you know what's going on. Burial's second is a lot darker than the first, but somehow more friendly sounding. I think it's because of this use of more vocal samples and less overall ambience this time around. The tracks are tighter, clearer and more focused.

Granted this album isn't for everyone. When I said it was dark, I meant dark. Really eerily, lonely music. Its something that would work good if you were listening to it in an empty subway car at 3 a.m. while it's raining. That shouldn't keep you from giving it a listen, but if you do, get some good headphones as I'm sure you don't have a good enough stereo that can handle this masterpiece.

If you've recently caught on the dubstep wave, check this out for something deeper. This is great layered electronic music. This is IDM at it's finest in my opinion. Highly recommended.
